Quickstep

The ragtime father of Foxtrot, this International dance is just like the name suggests - quick!

Popularized around the same time as other dances which became the foundations of modern swing dancing, quickstep instead took a turn towards becoming more smooth and elegant like other ballroom dances, while still retaining its wild and bouncy nature. Don’t let its fast and loose nature fool you, this dance is not for novice dancers, as the speed can make lead and follow very difficult.

In ballroom competitions, quickstep is only found in the International (AKA Standard) category.
